Not only is there a "Way of the Jedi", there is also a way to keep your PC fast, trained to endure, be "healthy" and carry a light sabre......well maybe not the latter.
This post is sorta my brothers idea. It goes out to all you non-techies out there. Its all tips and facts that can make your PC (may it be desktop / laptop) faster, less liable to crash, and also safer from viruses.
First off, programs you may use - yet not good for the performance of your PC.
1) Tool bars & hot bars (with the exception of google tool bar) :- This is a definite no no if your trying to keep your PC, specially surfing the Internet in peace. These tool bars and hot bars usually come with add ware, spy ware, and also make it possible to annoy the user with stuff you really don't need. But the google hot bar is definitely a useful tool, in terms of searching, blocking pop-ups and much more [details are quite long, maybe I'll dedicate a post for that].
2) Programs that start up with your operating systems, this is the stuff that starts up as soon as you turn your PC on. Ok, lemme give you why these programs are bad for ya. First of the start up will lag definitely with each new program that has to run at start up. Im sure a lotta you out there have this issue where it takes more then 2 minutes where the PC is still loading all these programs at start up. Take em off people, you can run what ever you want, when you want....just don't leave it for start up. Example would be download apps such as Ares, Kazaa and all these P2P apps. Also messenger, if you want to speed up your start up and really don't need your messenger to start every time you turn on, then DON'T. This can save that start up time a lot. Also apps such as quick time, auto updates for different apps, win amp agent, and such are really unnecessary apps that load and run in the background.
3) Different independently developed add-ons for standard apps. What I'm talking about are the add-ons available on the internet such as add-ons for MSN messenger or even windows (except from Microsoft). Most of the time these add-ons come with different viruses such as Trojans and more. Also they may not be as complete as, off the shelf software updates from original vendors of that software. This tendency to be incomplete create gaps in their security which make em more vulnerable to virus attacks. So if you value your safety and the safety of your PC ....... just don't use any add-on you find out there.
Unholy, this is long aint it.....ok I must be boring ya all. Well there is so much to say, any way I'll write more on this topic later.
Buh bye for now.
